Attendance & Punctuality
Ashmole Primary School is committed to its vision to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all its children. If this commitment is to succeed, good pupil attendance and punctuality are vital. It is the responsibility of parents and carers, to ensure that their child attends school each day and on time.
Attendance: Why is it important? Days off school add up to last lost learning:
Each child has their own individual registration certificate which is regularly monitored by the school. Satisfactory attendance is 95%. Absence below 90% is a cause for concern and will result in letters from the school and a panel meeting with the school attendance and punctuality governor.
The school bell is rung at 9.00 and registers are taken at 9:05. Children arriving at school after 9.05 must report to the school office and will be recorded as late in the register. Action will be taken by the school should a child regularly arrive after 9:00. This may include the implementation of fixed penalty notices.
If your child is ill, or unable to attend school for any other reason, you must:
- Contact the school office by 9.30am on the first day of absence and each subsequent day after. Contact with the school must be done either by phoning 020 7735 2419 or by sending an email to info@ashmoleprimaryschool.org.uk
- Failure to notify the school office of absence, may result in an unauthorised absence.
- Please note that you may be required to present evidence of a child’s sickness following a period of absence, for example a doctor’s certificate, appointment card, GP letter or prescription certificate.
Appointments during the school day are discouraged. If such an appointment is unavoidable, then please present documentation to the school office so that registers can be completed accurately.
Holidays during term time will not be authorised and Ashmole Primary School follows Lambeth’s policy of implementing fixed penalty notices for such instances.
Research shows that good attendance and punctuality are vital to ensure that children are given the opportunity to meet their full potential. Please support your child and ensure that they come to school every day on time.
In line with both the government and the Local Authority's guidance, our school target for attendance for the academic year 2022/23 is 95%+.
